Tara

This mountain goddess, which became a national park in 1981, is still an untouched oasis of nature. Tara is home to a diverse range of plant life and numerous endemic spieces, amongst which is the Serbian or Pančić spruce, which is only found here.

Kaluđerske Bare (about 35 kilometers from hotel „Zlatiborska Noć) is a well known tourist centre on Tara, with the hotels „Omorika“ and „Beli Bor“, and the particularly interesting ethnic-style decorated apartmant complex  „Zeleni čardaci“.  18 kilometers behind Kaluđerske Bare, and towards the peak of mountain Tara, we reach Mitrovac – mostly known for it’s popular resort for children. Only few kilometers behind lies the picturesque lake Zaovine, surrounded by thick conifer forest. The road from Mitrovac leads further over the peaks of Tara and Zborište and descends to Mokra Gora.

Nestled on the slopes of Tara ,at about 30 kilometers from our hotel, lies the village of Kremna; well known for the family of famous prophets - Tarabići,who lived here a century ago, and their „Prophecy of Kremna“. The house in which they once lived is preserved, and open for visitors.
